Pop-rock artist Joey Silveira is on the eve of a defining evolution, with his debut single ‘Drown’ arriving May 15, marked by a Friday-night launch show in Brunswick.
The quietly favourited Naarm/Melbourne songwriter is joined by atmospheric rock band Paradise Valley, and folk songwriter Ruby Dattner at the Bergy Bandroom. Joey Silveira’s sound centres on pop-rock, reaching instinctively towards psychedelic and folk textures, with expansive ballads sprinkled throughout. Drawing on the modern in Coldplay, Tame Impala and Jeff Buckley, alongside the classic in Pink Floyd and Fleetwood Mac, his sound sits between a contemporary immediacy and timeless familiarity.
Silveira’s first official release, Drown, arrives following an ambitious immersive live show in January and a debut TV appearance in April. Developed across a two-year period of personal and creative transformation, the mid-May release is a richly textured, reflective and climactic pop-rock track, showcasing the readiness of Silveira’s artistry and expression.
Supporting Silveira is the witty, honest folk of Ruby Dattner and Melbourne four-piece Paradise Valley, who lean into themes of heartfelt human connection. The contrast in styles across the lineup creates a dynamic backdrop for Silveira, offering a canvas for his wider catalogue, hinting at what lies beyond Drown.
Drown arrives on all major streaming platforms at midnight, before being brought to life by Silveira and his full band at the Friday night launch.
Tickets are on sale now via Oztix at $22.95, with doors opening at 7:30pm.
